</blockquote>
<p>The 2023 edition of the European Communication Monitor (ECM) has been presented by a research group from leading universities in Germany, the United Kingdom, Slovenia, Norway, and Spain today. The study is known as the world’s longest running empirical study on current and future developments in strategic communication and public relations. It is based on surveys of almost 40,000 communication professionals from 50 countries.</p>
<p>The current edition provides unique insights by combining a look back at the most important strategic issues for communication management over 15 consecutive years with a look ahead that identifies five key areas of action for communication leaders. The outlook is based on longitudinal empirical insights from the ECM and current research literature. The authors present theses for communication leaders that stimulate reflection and debate.</p>
<p>Key insights and drivers of success for the next decade</p>
<p>The ECM 2023 report identifies five areas that will shape the future of strategic communication and need specific attention, based on the empirical data and current research which has been additionally evaluated. These topics are explained in the full report with references to additional sources. The authors provide three theses for each area that help readers to reflect and discuss potential initiatives in their daily practice.</p>

<li><strong><em>Develop rare competencies and new roles for professionals.</em></strong></li>
<li><strong><em>Reach and impact audiences in a hyperconnected world.</em></strong></li>

<li><strong><em>Build relationships in times of misinformation and distrust.</em></strong></li>
</ol>
<p>Study will be relaunched in 2024 with a new research design</p>
<p>The ECM 2023 Report concludes the successful phase of this transnational study based on a broad quantitative research design. The research project will recommence in 2024 with a new, more focused and advanced research design to be announced later this year.</p>

<p><em><strong>Usted es el director del Monitor Latinoamericano de Comunicación. El último número de LCM se centra particularmente en las políticas de DEI y su papel en las organizaciones. ¿Hay alguna tendencia interesante que merezca ser señalada a la atención de colegas de todo el mundo?</strong></em></p>
<p>Efectivamente, la edición del LCM (22-23) incluye un capítulo con datos muy relevantes sobre “Diversidad, equidad e inclusión (DEI)”. En particular nos preocupaba investigar sobre el papel que las políticas y acciones DEI están desempeñando en las comunicaciones y viceversa (<a href="https://latincommunicationmonitor.com/especial-lcm-8m-diversidad-equidad-e-inclusion-dei-en-comunicacion">link</a>).</p>
<p>Entre los resultados más importantes respecto de estas dimensiones de las organizaciones y sus relaciones en América Latin, se destaca:</p>
<ol>
<li>Que uno de cada dos profesionales de la comunicación en Latinoamérica sigue debates globales sobre diversidad, equidad e inclusión (DEI) y confirma su relevancia a nivel nacional.</li>
<li>Solo el 20,4 % cree que apoyar a DEI se encuentra entre los tres temas más importantes para la gestión de la comunicación en los próximos tres años.</li>
<li>DEI es altamente discutido en Puerto Rico, Argentina y Brasil pero tiene menor importancia en Venezuela, Perú y Bolivia.</li>
<li>Las empresas que cotizan en bolsa, las agencias y consultoras consideran en mayor medida los debates acerca de DEI. En el sector público es donde menos debate hay al respecto.</li>
<li>Los cargos en comunicación con mayor jerarquía son significativamente más atentos a los debates y tendencias sobre DEI.</li>
<li>Se demandan más acciones e iniciativas organizaciones sobre DEI y su consecuente comunicación para no perder la confianza con los stakeholders.</li>
<li>En las empresas privadas se observa un mayor impacto de DEI que en el respecto de tipo de organizaciones.</li>
<li>Una de cada dos organizaciones reconoce la diversidad en términos de edad, género y estatus sociodemográfico en sus actividades de comunicación. Pero lidera la cuestión generacional.</li>
<li>Existen diferencias altamente significativas en las dimensiones de género, edad, estatus sociodemográfico y opiniones políticas según el tipo de empresa.</li>
<li>Los departamentos de comunicación están en mayor medida atentos a la parte estratégica en los planes sobre DEI.</li>
<li>En las empresas que cotizan en bolsa la comunicación se involucra en todas las formas de actividades de la DEI en comparación con sus colegas de otras organizaciones.</li>

				<div class="et_pb_text_inner"><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS) classificou, ainda em 2011,  a comunicação como competência essencial para o enfrentamento de uma pandemia. O novo coronavírus, maior crise sanitária dos últimos 100 anos, trouxe consigo uma enxurrada de informações e nem todas são confiáveis. No momento em que o país enfrenta a pior fase da pandemia, uma comunicação eficiente – com informações corretas – pode ser a diferença entre a vida e a morte. No entanto, além das crises sanitária, política e econômica, o Governo Federal enfrenta uma crise de credibilidade. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Segundo pesquisa da </span><em><span style="font-weight: 400;">European Public Relations Education and Research</span></em><span style="font-weight: 400;"> (Euprera), também integrada pela UFSM, 82% dos brasileiros desconfiam das informações dadas pelo governo e apenas 9% confiam em suas informações. Dos 8</span>66 participantes de todas as regiões do país, 14% confiam mais em seus amigos do que no Ministério da Saúde ou na Presidência, por exemplo. Influenciadores alternativos também ficaram à frente do governo, considerados confiáveis por 11% das pessoas. Além disso, 79% dos participantes acreditam que os gestores públicos não têm revelado a verdade, enquanto 75% acreditam que o governo tem confundido a população.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As fontes de informação consideradas mais confiáveis foram profissionais renomados da área da saúde, citados por 80% dos participantes. Em seguida, </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">aparece</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> a OMS, com 78%. Os meios de comunicação, considerados confiáveis por 52% dos entrevistados, foram a alternativa mais classificada como indiferente – </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">“não concordo, nem discordo”</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> – por 21% dos entrevistados. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Ainda,</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> 27% dos participantes afirmam desconfiar das informações apresentadas pelas mídias tradicionais. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Entre os principais meios para se obter informações, a televisão está em primeiro lugar, lembrada por 71% dos participantes. Em seguida, a imprensa online com 54%, sites de instituições públicas com 50%, Whatsapp com 47%, rádio com 46% e </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">jornais impressos</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> com 45%.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Além de buscar entender a relação do brasileiro com as informações midiatizadas durante a pandemia, a pesquisa busca destacar as mais eficientes e democráticas ações de enfrentamento à pandemia por meio das políticas de saúde e de comunicação propostas por diferentes governos. Para isso, os países participantes – </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">China, Turquia, Portugal, Espanha e Eslovênia e Brasil –</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> elaboraram questionários que abordam situações cotidianas da população, além de referências teóricas sobre o tema. Essa foi a base para as perguntas-chave aprovadas pelo comitê internacional da associação e que esteve presente em questionários de todas as nações. </span><em></em></p></div>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">1- “A vida tem que continuar. Os empregos devem ser mantidos. O sustento das famílias deve ser preservado. Devemos sim, voltar à normalidade”, citada por 68,5% dos participantes. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">2- “A imprensa está superdimensionando o efeito devastador da Covid-19”, lembrada por 65,5% dos entrevistados. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">3- “Não é necessário entrar em pânico por causa da Covid-19, pois ela é apenas uma gripe”, foi citada por 60,3% das pessoas.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A frase menos lembrada pelos entrevistados foi: “Covid-19 é perigosa e as fronteiras deveriam ter sido fechadas para pessoas de países com altos níveis de contagiosidade”, com 6% de citações.</span></p></div>

				<div class="et_pb_text_inner"><h3 style="font-weight: 500;"><b>Euprera e sua atuação no Brasil</b><em></em></h3></div>

				<div class="et_pb_text_inner"><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Composta por pesquisadores em Relações Públicas e Comunicação Estratégica de diversos países, a Euprera tem como objetivo identificar as tendências do mercado de trabalho. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Um dos seus principais projetos é o <em>Global Communication Monitor</em>, composto por outros observatórios, como o <em>Latin American Communication Monitor</em>.</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Por meio do grupo latino-americano, ocorre a coleta e a análise de informações sobre as rotinas dos principais departamentos e agências de comunicação do Brasil. Esses</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> dados auxiliam na identificação de competências necessárias para o aprimoramento profissional.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Com a pandemia, os pesquisadores associados à Euprera se organizaram para avaliar a comunicação governamental e da mídia sobre a Covid-19 em diferentes países. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Por meio da análise das ações governamentais em contextos de gestão de crise</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">, o estudo visa preparar profissionais de comunicação e gestores públicos para a construção de estratégias de comunicação que informem a população com mais eficiência. </span></p>
<p>Três pesquisadores representam a UFSM na “Seção Brasil” da pesquisa. Os professores do Departamento de Ciências da Comunicação (DECOM), Lana D’Ávila Campanella, José Antônio Meira da Rocha e Karen Cristina Kraemer Abreu, que atuam no campus Frederico Westphalen e participam do grupo gestor da pesquisa. Também atua como professor associado Marcus Vinicius Bonfim, da Fundação Escola de Comércio Álvares Penteado (Fecap). A coordenação da Seção Brasil é das professoras Andreia Silveira Athaydes, da Faculdade Integrada de Taquara (FACCAT), e Andréa Oliveira dos Santos, da Universidade de Girona, Espanha.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Neste momento, os países envolvidos na pesquisa estão revelando os resultados de suas pesquisas. Posteriormente</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> irá ocorrer</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> a comparação de dados entre os mesmos países – que corresponde a segunda parte da pesquisa.</span></p>
